Rubis Channel Islands Supports Renewable Heating Training at The Guernsey Institute

Rubis Channel Islands and Duquemin Ozanne are proud to support The Guernsey Institute’s apprenticeship programme through the installation of a Grant Eco Heat Oil Fired Boiler, capable of running on Rubis EcoHeat100, our 100% renewable heating oil.

EcoHeat100 offers a direct replacement for kerosene or gasoil, providing a pragmatic and sustainable alternative to fossil fuel-based domestic heating. Just as efficient as conventional heating oil, EcoHeat100 can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90% over its lifecycle, while helping to improve local air quality thanks to its cleaner-burning properties.

This installation will play a valuable role in helping apprentices gain hands-on experience with renewable energy systems during their technical training at The Guernsey Institute, where they spend one day per week developing practical skills alongside their studies.

Rubis Supports TGI

Nathan Jones, Group Lead for Renewables & Heating Services at Rubis Channel Islands, said:

“Rubis are keen to support apprenticeship training, particularly in raising awareness of renewable energy alternatives. Initiatives like this allow apprentices to understand how traditional heating systems can be adapted to run on sustainable fuels. We’re very pleased to support this programme and look forward to seeing the apprentices’ success as well as our continued collaboration with The Guernsey Institute.”

Chris Torode, Director of Apprenticeships at The Guernsey Institute, commented:

“We are extremely grateful for the support from Rubis and Duquemin & Ozanne, whose generosity helps us maintain up-to-date training equipment for apprentices and industry professionals. Building strong relationships with local employers and suppliers is key to the ongoing success of our apprenticeship programmes, and this is a fantastic example of that partnership in action.”

Martyn Duquemin, Managing Director at Duquemin & Ozanne, added:

“We were delighted to help support the next generation of plumbers. The apprenticeship programme is vital to the future of the construction industry, and this initiative has been a great collaboration with our colleagues at Rubis.”

Rubis Channel Islands remains committed to promoting renewable fuel solutions and investing in local skills development, ensuring the islands continue to move towards a lower-carbon, more sustainable future.
