Jersey’s First Ever Soap Box Challenge

We are delighted to support this inaugural event which takes place on Sunday 27th May 2018.

It’s a great fun day for all the family. If you have never seen Soap Box racing before, you are in for a treat.  These home-made machines are non-motorised; fuelled by nothing more than sheer courage, the force of gravity and a sprinkling of madness as they compete against the clock in an extreme downhill race running from Glassis Field Road (in front of the old Fort Regent Swimming Pool) past Mount Bingham Swing Park and then down to the finish at the Planning Office at South Hill.

It will be quite some spectacle as these amateur racers take to Mount Bingham in their best madcap creations, whilst raising money for charity, having fun and winning prizes! All proceeds from the Jersey Soap Box Challenge go to Jersey Hospice Care. The funds raised will be used by the charity to provide free care for those with life limiting conditions and support for their families.

The event opens at 09.30 am until 12.30pm for the practice runs and then the competition runs start at 13.30 until 17.00 hrs.

Further information on the event can be found on the Soap Box Challenge Facebook page – to find out more – just click here.

Please come along and support the event, entry is free and I’m sure all the teams and individuals taking part will be glad of a little encouragement as they pit their wits against each other, testing their engineering, design and driving skills.
