Handy Home Heating Guide
Efficiency, like everything mainly depends on how well your system is maintained.
Preparations are being made across the islands for the festive season.
Does the same apply to you at home? When you think of the festive season, you may think about being at home with family and loved ones. So running out of heating oil during the coldest season of the year maybe the last thing on your mind. If this happens, we may take longer than usual to deliver as demand across the islands have increased; of course abnormal weather can cause delays to your delivery, and in extreme cases, prevent delivery vehicles from getting to you.
Aside from ruining the festive period, there are other reasons not to let your tank get too low. When your oil levels drop too low they can damage your boiler. You can monitor your fuel usage by checking the depth of the fuel tank frequently in the winter months. Just be aware that they can be a little deceptive due to the rounded shapes of the most tanks.
It is also a great idea, to monitor and gain a sense of how much fuel you might be using. You’d be surprised to see how much your fuel consumption increases during the winter. Ensuring you have a sense of your usage we can help you plan ahead and not leave you in the cold. With our planned delivery service, we take the worry about checking your tank levels and manage deliveries for you. Click here to find out more.
Efficiency, like everything mainly depends on how well your system is maintained. Here are some pointers to help you make sure your system is running at its best, which will help you save in the future.
- We highly recommend calling a registered engineer to service your boiler at least once a year.
- Make sure your radiators are properly bled as this will remove excess air that may build up in the system.
- Try and keep your thermostats and radiator valves set on a constant level, background heat can be more effective than turning the heat up and down. As this makes the boiler work unnecessarily.
