Guernsey Air Display 2017 – Fuelling the Community
Once again Rubis Channel Islands are proud to be sponsoring the Guernsey Air Display. This year’s event was as impressive as ever, with thousands of spectators lining up to see the display.
The Guernsey Air Display, formerly known as the Battle of Britain Air Display has been an annual fixture in the Guernsey calendar for over fifty years and this year will also mark the sixtieth anniversary of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
We are members of the Guernsey Air Display Consortium, a group of local businesses who provide almost all the funds for the event which allows the display to continue as a free spectacle for the general public to enjoy.
The air display always includes an impressive array of military aircrafts both historical and modern day. This popular event remembers and honours those who served in the Royal Air Force during World War II and in particular the pilots and crews who served in the Battle of Britain from June – October 1940.
Sadly many of these aircraft will not be with us forever, and it is a pleasure to support an event that keeps these majestic icons in the air for everyone to enjoy.
There are few sights or sounds able to evoke more powerful thoughts and emotions than that of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flying overhead, unfortunately due to the weather conditions this was delayed slightly but was still a magnificent sight.
More information about this year’s display can be found here, where you can also download the commemorative programme.
