Free Heating Oil Vouchers to Help Combat Fuel Poverty

This winter will be bitter for many, with more islanders facing fuel poverty due to the impact of COVID-19. To help, Rubis Channel Islands are donating £20,000 in heating oil vouchers to those who are struggling across Jersey and Guernsey.

Each voucher is worth £100, and these will be distributed by the Salvation Army in Jersey and the Guernsey Welfare Service from Monday 19th October.

Those who need help this winter are invited to visit the charities to collect a voucher, before contacting Rubis to redeem it and arrange their order of heating oil.

Managing Director of Rubis Channel Islands, Bertrand Dellinger commented: ‘Islanders have felt the sting of COVID-19 on their mental, physical, and financial wellbeing. For some, it has had a greater impact leaving islanders struggling and we want to help. We hope these vouchers will support our local community during this difficult time.’

Richard Nunn from the Salvation Army in Jersey said, ‘We are incredibly grateful for Rubis’ support in providing these winter heating oil vouchers. This year has been difficult for many islanders and these vouchers will provide a much-needed helping hand.’

‘Winter, with the colder weather, is always a more expensive time of year,’ added Sue Le Friec from the Guernsey Welfare Service. ‘These vouchers, kindly donated by Rubis, will help make a welcome difference for those who find themselves struggling following a difficult year.’
